Hola! My name is Raydhiri and I’m a 30-something living in New York City with my husband, Chase, and pup, Russ. I’ve lived in New York all of my life and it’s an integral part of who I am. I’m curious slash borderline nosey which has led me in different career paths, wonderful adventures, and connections with amazing people along the way.
For the last 4.5 years, I’ve been working as an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) helping adults with physical disabilities (i.e. stroke, orthopedic issues, etc.) to regain independence in their daily lives. Before I was helping the elderly, I’ve worked as an executive assistant for a UK-based skincare and beauty company as well as a private jet company in Manhattan and prior to that, I was a substitute teacher, waitress,…the list goes on. I get why Barbie has a thousand careers, there’s something so fulfilling about being able to experience different industries in your twenties to see what is it that fuels you.
My parents are immigrants from the Dominican Republic and I was born and raised in New York City. I identify as an Afro-latina; my ancestry is a beautiful blend of African and European and I love to embrace it because it makes me uniquely me.
My first language was Spanish and I learned English by watching Sesame Street and Barney (shoutout to Big Bird!) in preparation for beginning kindergarten. School was my sanctuary: I love learning, writing, reading and socializing (I don’t think my teachers liked my love for socializing as they frequently reported to my parents that “She’s a pleasure to have in class but she talks too much.”) At 33 years old, I feel like a perpetual learner as I seek information about improving my life (health, finances, home organization, fitness) as well as the random thoughts that run through my head.
As an extension of my need to explore and help others, I’ve decided to start this blog to connect people from different corners of the world with a common element: curiosity. Welcome!
